Chevy is retired from the field but  he is still Ron's pride and joy. His pedigree represents three generations of conformation bred Master Hunters.  He is the grandson of "Ch Waterbound Locke on Laddy MH" and the son of "Ch Caer Bren Super Hero MH", bred to our Rosie who holds a Senior Hunter title herself.

Chevy went on his first North Dakota pheasant hunt at just six months old, working the field next to Momma Rosie. On his first morning out he had an encounter with a porcupine that left him with a face full of quills.  He patiently allowed Ron to extract 20 or so quills from his face and under his tongue and happily went back out after the lunch break to hunt some more.

During the pursuit of his hunt titles Chevy has demonstrated extraordinary marking abilities and drive, earning his Junior Hunter title at 16 months of age over two back to back weekends.  Chevy finished his Senior Hunter title in 4 out of 5 tests and passed his first Master test the summer he was two years old. The following year, with Ron as his handler, Chevy earned 3 more passes toward his Master Hunter title.

Chevy's trainer, Guy Reith, handled Chevy to his first master pass.  When Ron "took over the whistle" the season after, Ron started out as a novice, never having handled at a Senior test let alone a master test.  While Chevy trained with Guy during the week, Ron and Chevy had only the weekends to work together and become a team. Ron had a lot to learn about the technicalities of handling a young dog on a MH test and it was an extraordinary accomplishment for Ron and Chevy to earn three passes together.

While Chevy was training for his MH title he hadn't had much time to get in the conformation ring. However, in 2010 while taking a break from training in the field, he competed in the Detroit Kennel Club show and won the Open Yellow class.
